The latest research has shown that bottled water contains more bacteria than tap water. A team of Canadian researchers determined that 70 percent of the popular bottled water manufacturers that are commercially available, containing bacteria and up to 100 times the allowable limits
Microbiologist Sonish Azam from Crest laboratories in Canada says that inspections should implement stricter control of bottled water.
“It is not expected bottled water to have germs, but this study showed extremely high levels of bacteria,” says the researcher.
However, according to scientists, the chances are very small that the bacteria contained in bottled water to cause any disease.
“This high level of bacteria can present a danger only to sensitive populations such as pregnant women, infants and the elderly,” says Azam.
British nutritionist Chris Fenn said that people should drink tap water regularly, of course, if it is allowed to drink.
